Russell Budd is president and managing shareholder of Baron & Budd, PC
After graduating from the University of Texas with his Juris Doctor, Russell Budd began practicing with the law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C., later becoming president and managing shareholder. Under Russell Budd’s direction, Baron & Budd, P.C. has expanded from its cornerstone asbestos litigation practice to a more diverse firm capable of handling cases regarding a wide array of topics, including water contamination, California Proposition 65 violations, insurance fraud, Chinese drywall, and securities fraud. As one of the largest plaintiffs’ firm in the nation, Baron & Budd, P.C. has five offices with 50 attorneys and 200 staff members.
With Russell Budd at the helm, Baron and Budd, P.C. has become one of the most influential law firms in asbestos litigation. Serving on several asbestos creditors’ bankruptcy committees, Russell Budd resolved more than 100,000 claims against some of Wall Street’s biggest companies. Along with other Baron & Budd, P.C. attorneys, Russell Budd negotiated a $4 billion settlement with Halliburton Co. that resulted in the creation of a trust fund dedicated to compensating present and future asbestos victims. Additionally, Baron & Budd, P.C. has overseen billion-dollar settlements with United States Gypsum Corporation and W.R. Grace & Co. Baron & Budd, P.C. has generously donated to the International Pleural Mesothelioma Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which researches asbestos cancers, including mesothelioma.
Russell Budd also maintains strong ties to the legal community through his involvement with professional organizations, including Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates, Texas Trial Lawyers and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association. Additionally, Russell Budd has represented Baron & Budd, P.C. at a number of conferences.
